Peter Craven canvasses potential Australian candidates for the Nobel Prize for Literature. His list of possibilities includes David Malouf, Shirley Hazzard, Gerald Murnane, Tim Winton, Murray Bail, Elizabeth Jolley, Tom Keneally and Peter Carey.
