Speech given at the Children's Book Council of Australia 60th anniversary dinner held at the Tea Room, Queen Victoria Building, Sydney, New South Wales, 21 September 2005. In this speech Maurice Saxby outlines the history of the Council, the Awards and Children's Book Week, the beginning of the review journal New Books for Boys and Girls (Reading Time) and his own career.
