'It's 1942 and, in the small town of Kalbarri in Western Australia, there's a little boy with a lot on his mind. John's asthma is making him a target at school, his mum is having it off with the Japanese doctor and his only friend is an Aboriginal girl called Albert. But all these problems pale into insignificance when, on his tenth birthday, John receives a disturbing phone call from the President of the United States!
