In light of accusations about the veracity of Norma Khouri's story of Jordanian honour killings in Forbidden Love, Sullivan argues that 'However important the writer's message, the end does not justify fabrication ... if it turns out that the story at the heart of the writer's case is not true, then the book amounts to nothing, because its readers have been cheated.'
