Banfield argues that the banana industry in North Queensland is in a critical state, with no more white farmers engaged in banana growing. Banfield opposes Chinese growers, who have put down the few Aboriginal growers near the Tully River. Fruit from Fiji has taken over the southern and New Zealand markets.
