The book opens with the three poems selected as joint winners of the World Congress of Poets Poetry Competition, 2000. The anthology then provides short essays on poetry from thirty-four countries or regions from around the globe.   • From the Introduction by Robyn Ianssen: The aim of the World Congress of Poets in Sydney in 2000 is to bring together people in Australia who write in many languages and present their work to the general population.
