Epigraph: Gilgamesh instructed a harlot to lure Enkidu from his guardianship of the wild beasts of the desert. Once deprived of his innocence the animals rejected him; he returned and sat at the harlot's feet and she led him back to Gilgamesh. -- Babylonian legend.
