In this respose to an article by Kevin Brophy, Thomas Shapcott includes an extract from an interview he gave the journal Mattoid (no, 2 1980) about prose poetry. The extract also appears in Shapcott's Biting the Bullet : A Literary Memoir (Simon and Schuster, 1990).
