  • TEXT is a refereed journal under the auspices of the Australian Association of Writing Programs. It is one of the first Australian journals to exist entirely by electronic means. TEXT publishes academic and other material concerned with creative writing programs in universities, TAFE colleges and the community around Australia and from English-speaking areas of Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. The journal includes refereed research articles on creative writing and processes and the teaching of creative writing, refereed creative work, unrefereed forum material, book reviews, letters and notices.

'In this paper I discuss aspects of leadership in relation to co-editing an academic journal. Because I had no formal training in leadership—not unusual for leaders in academia—I gather from memory experiences where I learnt about leadership, and combine these with reference to research by Karl Lewin and others, in a personal analysis of principles and practices which stood me in good stead for the task of editing TEXT.'
