  • This poem was first published in the Australian Town and Country Journal in June 1880 titled 'My Piccaninny'. The poem subsequently appeared in Songs from the Mountains titled 'Peter the Piccaninny'. This later version involved a number of minor alterations to the initial Australian Town and Country Journal version.
