Discusses and Edgar Rice Burroughs's Mars series, an extremely influential science fiction novel, establishing the sub-genre known as 'space opera'. As with Burroughs's Tarzan of the Apes it too was followed by a handful of equally successful sequels. Also discusses H. G. Wells.
