Correspondence between Christina Stead and her husband, William J. Blake is contained in Stead's papers held at the National Library of Australia. In this article, Harris examines the major sequence of this correspondence (May-June 1942) and demonstrates the way in which the letter-writing mirrors the development of Stead's novels.
