AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Richard III depicts the Machiavellian rise to power and subsequent short reign of Richard III of England. Although the play is grouped among Shakespeare's histories it is also regarded as a tragedy. As with most of Shakespeare's works Richard III has been performed numerous times in Australia and has also been subject to burlesque treatment, especially during the mid to late-nineteenth century.
