AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'In the days before there were hens or even chickens, there was an egg. With the atmosphere of a medieval tale, a touch of gothic horror and a shade or two of teenage mutant ninja turtles, Albuman's Quest combines photography, sculpture, watercolour painting and jewellery. Like the fragile hero in a jerky old movie, Albuman stumbles through an increasingly menacing landscape. With the forest-dwelling Ovatia as his companion, he finally confronts the evil albuminoid and is reunited with his own kind. Created from eggs, doll's eyes and antique cutlery, the characters for the book were originally conceived as actors for a miniature theatre piece or short animated film. The authors soon realised that the story could be told through a series of 'stills' and the result is a picture book to tantalise older readers.'
