Dedication: For Grannie Sunflower, Last of the Noonuccals
-
Gooboora (the Silent Pool) on Stradbroke Island is now officially Lake Karboora. It was feared and avoided by my tribe the Noonuccals as the abode of a water monster equivalent to the southern Bunyip. 'Woor' means devil of evil being. It was always the belief of the tribe that wild things avoided it as the blacks did.
