Notes

  • Editor's note in Old Bush Songs and Rhymes of Colonial Times: 'Cyprus was seized by Swallow and 31 of the prisoners in Recherche Bay in August 1829 on a voyage to Macquarie Harbour. Lieutenant Carew, 10 soliders and 13 prisoners were landed, and the remainder made off to Tahiti and Canton where some of the pirates succeeded in taking passages to England. Swallow was tried but acquitted in 1830, but two men, Davis and Watts, were executed.'
