This work is thought to have been first published in the Worker [Sydney] on 17 June, 1893. However, as there are currently no Australian library holdings of this issue of the Worker, this remains to be confirmed. To date, details of the first publication have been tentatively established via a clipping of the work which appears in the Henry Lawson Scrap Books, (ML A1890-A1892).
