AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Ikin argues that Lane's plea for reform in The Workingman's Paradise goes beyond humanitarian argument to provide a clear statement of the metaphysical basis of Lane's belief in socialism. Ikin demonstrates that this belief is based on Lane's vision of the nature of the universe where socialism is God's law.
