Notes

  • Seven variations on the theme of the nursery rhyme "Here we Go Round the Mulberry Bush." In the first appearance of the sequence each of the variations is named for the poet whose style it imitates - Vivian Smith, A.D. Hope, Rosemary Dobson, James McAuley, Francis Geyer (pseudonym for Harwood), Gwen Harwood, Vincent Buckley. In subsequent versions the names are omitted and the variations, in the same order, are simply numbered. The poets' names are restored and additional subtitles added in the 2001 edition of Selected Poems.
