This poem appeared in Queensland Punch in December 1878 with the accompanying note: 'Revised and partly re-written for Queensland Punch, by the author'. This appears to have been an editorial stunt, for the poem as it appeared in Queensland Punch was almost identical to the poem that had been published in the Town and Country Journal in 1876.
