    Il presente volume rappresenta il primo contributo critico italiano interamente incentrato sulla figura della grande poetessa australiana Oodgeroo Noonuccal. Libro ibrido e strutturalmente composito, esso ospita la prima versione italiana integrale della raccolta poetica d’esordio di Oodgeroo (all’epoca Kath Walker), We Are Going (1964).

    The volume aims to introduce to the Italian audience the seminal work of the Indigenous poet Oodgeroo of the tribe Noonuccal, and contains the first Italian translation of her first collection of poetry, We Are Going (1964).     Note: Editor's note: Anche in questo casi siamo di fronte a un luogo fisico della città di Brisbane: Whynot Street si trova oltre Boundary Street, vale a dire la linea di confine, fisicamente e simbolicamente insuperabile, tra quartieri bianchi e neri. Il nome della strada, che in italiano suona appunto come 'perché no' offre lo spunto per interrogarsi in modo polemico, ma anche con ironia, sulle aberranti ragioni della segregazione nella propria terra. Nella versione italiana si è scelto di intitolare la poesia nelle due lingue per favorire la resa del gioco linguistico dell'originale e allo stesso tempo salvaguardare il toponimo.
