Notes

  • According to Hugh Anderson's comment in Colonial Ballads, the song was first introduced into the burlesque drama Little Jack Shepherd at the Gaiety Theatre, London, in 1885, and the next year in its first production in Australia at Her Majesty's Opera House, Melbourne.
