Peter Pereyra, BA MA (Bibliographical & Textual Studies), has been a committee member of the Mechanics' Institutes of Victoria (MIV) since 2002. He has been engaged in a project aimed at digitising all available historical records relating to the institutes for deposit in the collection held by the Mechanics' Institutes Resource Centre. He has been a MIV representative on the State Library Users Organisations' Council and has researched the circulating libraries of Melbourne, with particular focus on their proximity to public transport routes and the effects of the mechanics' institutes libraries on their patronage.
