Victor Churchill Dale was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. He moved with his family to Merredin, Western Australia, where he completed his schooling at the primary school in fifth standard. He later served as a soldier in Vietnam, then worked in various mining-related jobs throughout Western Australia before retiring. He began writing after his mother died, attributing this decision to telepathic messages from his dying mother.
