Nicole Williams is a Murri from Far North Queensland. She has lived most of her life in and around Cairns. She is a poet and works with Aboriginal communities, particularly with young girls. In the introduction to her poetry collection In My World (1995), she describes her heritage and interests in the following way:

'My father, Celestino Williams, hails from Stephen Island in the Torres Straits, while my Granny was from Cebu in the Philippines.
My mother, Patricia Burns (Williams), has affiliations with Djungan country, west of Mareeba in the Far North. I also believe that my grandfather was from Ipswich, near Brisbane.
Like many other people, writing is a means for me to express my feelings and ideas to others. I am [...] working at an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation--Mookai Rosie-Bi-Bayan (Aunty Rosie's Shelter)--where I was employed as the Young Women's Officer. [...] Many of my poems are about my experiences both at work and in my life.'
