BiographyHistory

Longman was a prominent Queensland naturalist, and one time Director of the Queensland Museum (1918-1945). He developed an international reputation for his work in the field of vertebrate palaeontology, and was awarded the Australian Natural History Medallion in 1946, and the Mueller Medal in 1952. His wife, Irene Longman (1877-1964), was the first woman to be elected to the Queensland Parliament. (Source : ADB)
