BiographyHistory

Books Alive was established through the allocation of $8 million from the Federal Government as part of the Book Industry Assistance Plan (BIAP) for the creation of 'a promotional campaign that could produce beneficial results for the book industry'. The initiative is coordinated by the Australia Council with the broad aim of repositioning 'reading for pleasure' as an enjoyable leisure activity for people of all ages.

From 2010 the program was re-named and re-shaped as Get Reading! (q.v.).
