Sue Pearson is a Norfolk Islander, a direct descendant of the Tahitian women and British sailors of the Bounty who settled Pitcairn Island and whose descendants made Norfolk their home in 1856. In 1988, Pearson received a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from Newcastle University in Australia. She then worked for several years as a graphic designer in Australia, the Cook Islands, and Norfolk Island while continuing to build her fine art practice. Internationally, Pearson is known as a book illustrator and exponent of Norfolk and Pitcairn heritages through her art, which comprises media such as photography, painting and printmaking. While in recent years she has resided in New Zealand with her husband and two children, Norfolk Island continues to be her home, and artistic and spiritual base.
