BiographyHistory

Dorothy Knights was educated at government schools in Queensland and undertook further training in various fields of music including piano and organ. She worked as a music teacher, freelance writer, teacher's aid, voluntary music therapist and voluntary musical language educator for refugee children.

In 1943 Knights married the Rev'd John Henry Knights and together they served in Baptist churches in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. They had five children - two daughters and three sons. In addition to her work within the church, Knights was active in community organisations such as Inner Wheel. She also found time for her hobbies of golf and sewing.

Knights experienced ill-health for much of her life. She suffered from asthma and epilepsy and, in her final years, cancer.
