BiographyHistory

Prolific British author Naomi Mitchison wrote poems, plays, books for children, reviews, essays and articles which addressed a variety of social, moral, and political themes. While visiting Australia ca.1978, Mitchison travelled extensively and spent time at Aboriginal communities in both Queensland and the Northern Territory. She also participated in Writer's Week at the Adelaide Festival in South Australia and contributed to the Melbourne Herald. Mitchison published two works with Australian content, the novel Not by Bread Alone (1983) and her autobiography, Mucking Around : Five Continents over Fifty Years (1981).
