BiographyHistory

Belinda Field was educated at Seymour College. She was married in 1976 and, in 1983, by that time a mother, she graduated in Medicine at the University of Adelaide. She worked in hospitals around Adelaide and in general practice. Divorced in 1988, Field re-married in 1995. With five children, Field continued working part-time in general practice. In December 1996 she esbablished a Health History museum at Seaview Downs and was its first director.

Many of Field's poems are about divorce, and about children. Her aim is to share her experiences with other women in similar situations, and she participated in the publication of Way Out: Survivors' Thoughts and Stories, stories written by fifteen women who had escaped domestic violence.
