BiographyHistory

Elkington was the first president of the writing group Scribblers. She married John (Jack) Elkington on 27 August 1896. Her younger sister Katie was married to Norman Lindsay. Elkington saw to the education of their three sons - having a particular influence on Jack - when the marriage ended and Katie became an alcoholic. Elkington died suddenly of heart failure aboard the SS Koopa en route from Scarborough. (Stewart, Jean. Scribblers (2007) p.18-29)
