BiographyHistory

Mary MacKillop, an Australian Roman Catholic nun, was the founder of the Order of the Sisters of St Joseph. MacKillop was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 19 January 1995 and canonised by Pope Benedict XVI on 17 October 2010. Following her canonisation, MacKillop was officially known as St Mary of the Cross.
