BiographyHistory

Alice Lynne (Lindy) Chamberlain, mother of Azaria Chamberlain who in 1980 was taken and killed by a dingo at a campsite at Uluru, Northern Territory. Lindy Chamberlain was charged with Azaria's murder and found guilty after a second inquest in 1982. She was sentenced to life imprisonment and confined to Darwin Prison. After a royal commission into the her conviction, new evidence was considered and in 1988 Lindy's conviction was quashed. (Source: Australian Dictionary of Biography website)
