BiographyHistory

The printing and stationery firm J. H. Lewis was founded in Morphett Street, Adelaide in 1856, by printer James Heath Lewis. Lewis printed directories, almanacs, and the Protestant Advocate, a weekly newspaper with a religious tone. He also issued some work by local literary writers, and what is believed to be the first illustrated children's book published in Australia, Who Killed Cockatoo? (1862).

The business was sold in 1879.
