BiographyHistory

Leicester University Press was established in 1957, on the granting of a charter of independence to the university, to publish scholarly work by members of the university. Initially supported by university funding, the output of the press reflected the strength of the university in history, French and mathematics. It later became known for its publications on urban history, and The Victorian Library, a historical reprints series. Pinter publishers acquired the Press in 1988, but the university continues to provide editorial advice for publications under the Leicester University Press imprint.
