BiographyHistory

Vincent Zigas spoke Estonian, Lithuanian, German, Russian, Polish and Melanesian Pidgin. He studied Medicine at the universities of Kaunas, Koeningsberg, Breslau and Hamburg before emigrating to Australia. He joined the Department of Public Health, Papua New Guinea. Between 1955 and 1977 he was often a visiting scientist at the National Institute of Health, Bethseda, United States. His work, Laughing Death, was published posthumously.
