BiographyHistory

Robison, the editor of the newspapers The Northern Argus (1866-1870) and Rockhampton's Morning Bulletin, turned to printing and publishing. Kellow (q.v.) in Queensland Poets(1930) places him in the 'Rockhampton Group' of poets, and says he encouraged Birkbeck (q.v.), publishing his works along with Forbes and Rogers (qq.v.). Robison was a well known Queensland literary figure of the 1870s who printed/published songs on single sheets (amongst them Christmas Carol for 1879 and God Defend the Right - neither traced). Robison was the honorary secretary of the Central Queensland Territorial Separation League who, along with others in the group, stirred up enthusiasm for secession with his songs.
