John Macleod was the author of humorous books such as The Golfer's Dictionary [1945?]. He was a broadcaster with the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) for many years, during which time he wrote for stage and film and light entertainment pieces for ABC Radio. Among his musical compositions is the song Felix Calling (1940), for which he also provided the lyrics. McLeod also provided additional music to the 1932 musical Collits Inn and collaborated with composer Fred Whaite on the ABC radio series The Chronicles of Clipper and Brown (1935).
