BiographyHistory

In his introduction to A Challenge to Atheism (1935?) Archibald Browning Kempster describes himself as having been 'under the bread line' for over a decade and 'unable to obtain employment of any kind, even as a casual gardener, bill-distributor, or window cleaner, although a man of unquestionable morals and integrity...' Kempster also states that he was 'a bitter opponent of Christianity at one period of my life' but subsequently underwent a conversion. His newly discovered faith is reflected in the poems found in A Challenge to Atheism.

Kempster was also the author of the poetry broadsheets Too Busy! (1937), The Coronation (1937), Down with Hitler! (1939) Britain and America (1941?), Glorious Greece (1941) and Welcome! Russia! (1941) and he wrote a pamphlet on Karl Marx.
