BiographyHistory

Iby Kery won a prize for literature while still attending high school in Hungary. She emigrated to Australia after the Hungarian uprising and worked as a dress designer, an area in which she trained. She has also studied communications at the Kuringai College of Advanced Education and contemporary English Literature at Macquarie University. She has been a member of FAW (Fellowship of Australian Writers), PEN International and Australia Women Writers. Her poetry has been read on community radio, including Radio 2EA, in two languages. In 1980 she won the Kuringai College of Advanced Education Poetry Prize.
