BiographyHistory

Kanomie woman and actor Justine Saunders was well known for her roles on stage and television and in film. Saunders appeared in the film adaptations of The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978) and The Fringe Dwellers (1986) and in the mini-series Women of the Sun. She also featured in several long-running Australian television series including Number 96, Prisoner and Blue Heelers. Saunders was involved in establishing the Black Theatre and in setting up the Aboriginal National Theatre Trust in 1987.
