BiographyHistory

After early education and work as a delivery boy in London, Harold Lewis followed his oldest brother Frank to Australia. He embarked on the outback adventures described in his two books of autobiographical writing before returning to England, enlisting and fighting on the Somme during the First World War. After the war Lewis became a Fleet Street journalist and later set up his own publishing business. He also worked as an interviewer of sporting celebrities on the BBC. He joined the staff in the Ministry of Works as public relations officer during the Second World War. Later, he ans his second wife Brenda published Parents and a travel annual. He returned regularly to Australia.
