BiographyHistory

Leon Villiers worked in his youth as a rural labourer, and later as a Melbourne tram driver. He was also at one point a prominent Victorian Labor figure and trade union organiser. Over the years he contributed poems to a number of magazines, including the Bulletin, and many of these appeared in The Changing Year and Other Verses, published posthumously in 1918. Villiers was the father of Alan Villiers (q.v.).
