BiographyHistory

Robyn Walton moved to Australia at the age of two with her family. She spent her school years on the central coast of NSW and later studied at the University of Sydney. Robyn Walton has undertaken doctoral studies in the English Program at La Trobe University, Melbourne, having completed her previous degrees at the University of Sydney. Walton worked as a book editor and as a teacher at University of Technology, Sydney, for fourteen years whilst also writing fiction. Her fiction, essays and chapters on utopianism and cultural history have been published in Australia and Europe in several languages. She has also contributed a chapter on utopianism and post-colonialism to Histoire transnationale de l'utopie littéraire et de l'utopisme (Honoré Champion) and, with Rosaleen Love (q.v.), a section in Women in Science Fiction and Fantasy: An Encyclopedia (Greenwood).

  • 'Glace Fruits' and subsequent stories in Australian Short Stories were all published as Robin Walton, partly to avoid confusion with a Sydney 'Robyn Walton' who works in the film and television industry.
