BiographyHistory

Stephen Pearl moved to Australia with his family when he was a year old. He was educated at Hunters Hill High School in Sydney, and then at the NSW University of Technology, where he was awarded a bachelor degree in communications in 1991.

He was a writer, painter and film-maker, and went to live and work as an editor for film and television in Canada and America in 1992, returning to Australia in March 1993. In May of the same year, he was diagnosed with leukaemia. Pearl worked for the television programme 60 Minutes in Sydney, until he suffered a relapse.
