BiographyHistory

Novelist and author of historical non-fiction.

Educated in Hobart, Dando-Collins was co-founder and first secretary of the Van Diemen Light Railway Society, when he was nineteen. He worked as a graphic designer, copywriter, and other roles in the advertising industry in both Australia and the UK. With his wife, Louise, he founded what became the Tamar Valley Writers Festival.

After publishing the non-fiction Legions of Rome in 2012, Dando-Collins has concentrated on World War II-era military history, with a focus on American combatants. His work includes the Caesar the War Dog series (2012-2016) of children's books about dogs serving in modern war zones.

As of 2018, he is based in the Tamar Valley, Tasmania, where he has lived for some years.
