BiographyHistory

Writer and actor Hugh Watson was involved with the New Theatre company in Newtown, Sydney, during the late-1970s and early-1980s. SInce then he has been largely based in Brisbane, working and writing with local communities, as well helping create productions focusing on political and social issues. Watson's involvement with Brisbane theatre has seen him work with the Popular Theatre Troupe, Order By Numbers, Street Arts Community Theatre Company, and the Brisbane Powerhouse.

Among his original works are two plays for Order By Numbers - Tall Tales from the Altered State (1986), and Casualties (1986), The Valley (n. yr.), Cabaret Erratica, (1993), Liquid Gold (2001), and Which Way (2004). Watson also collaborated on Order for Numbers' A Few Short Wicks in Paradise (1985).

In addition to his career as a theatrical practitioner, Watson has been a bookseller and kitchenhand.
