BiographyHistory

Blackmore worked as a teacher in Tasmania and New South Wales before joining the 12th Battalion, AIF, in May 1916. He was wounded three times during action in France, finally succumbing to pneumonia in an English military hospital just days before the Armistice. His tombstone at Melcombe Regis cemetery includes lines taken from his poem "Dusk."
