BiographyHistory

Aodh de Blacam in his 'Foreword' to Bard of Clanrye (1932) describes Henry Hamilton Blackham as having 'one sorrow in [his] life - his exile from the hills of Mourne.'

According to de Blacam, Blackham migrated to Australia from Cork, Ireland, with other members of his family 'when Newry's [Blackham's birthplace] decline was beginning'.

Blackham farmed at Trevilla, South Australia, writing poems of exile, homesickness and longing as well as those of a pioneer. He also wrote religious verse.
